Show respect, listen, and be empathetic

Different cultures mean different ways of thinking, behaving, working, and living. Imagine being in Kuwait and feeling disrespected because locals don’t make an effort to understand you. You wouldn’t appreciate that, so don’t do it yourself.

Be inclusive

Focus on common values. This can sometimes be found in simply being human, in your goals, or even in the small things. Shared values lead to greater understanding.

Focus on your unique self

The most important thing is to be yourself and stay true to yourself. Understand who you are, what makes you happy, and how you want to experience this in your daily life. Seek ways to feel this every day, including at work. If you feel you cannot be yourself, it might be time for an open conversation with someone or within your team. Or maybe it’s time to part ways.

Keep an open mind and engage in dialogue with inclusive communication

Work from a place of positive intentions and partnership. If something is unclear or doesn’t feel right, talk about it and find a way to make it work. Usually, the other party is open to this as well.

Seek specialists help

You can take workshops or training sessions, understand other cultures through books or online resources, or more easily, hire specialists.
