Culture development at Kuwait Petroleum

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), a state-owned leader in the global energy industry, faced rising operational costs and shifting energy demands. To stay competitive, KPC sought to optimise its HR practices, aiming to reduce expenses while maintaining high performance and engagement.

KPC partnered with Ganes Solutions to enhance HR efficiency, streamline staffing, and support a culture of collaboration across diverse teams in Europe and the Middle East.

-20 to -40 %

KPC achieved sustainable HR cost reductions, enhanced workforce integration, and improved alignment with organisational goals. The revitalised, inclusive culture has strengthened team cohesion and resilience, positioning KPC for continued success in an evolving energy landscape.

Comprehensive culture SWOT analysis

We began with a culture SWOT analysis to identify immediate cost-saving opportunities and long-term strategic benefits. This analysis led to the recommendation of targeted staffing adjustments, including a 20-40% reduction in certain roles, while preserving key competencies. By optimising resources, we helped KPC maintain operational strength and employee morale despite restructuring.

Performance management and consolidation

To enhance efficiency, Ganes Solutions identified areas where middle and senior management roles were overlapping. We advised on consolidating regional offices, including closing the Rotterdam office to centralise operations in The Hague, which yielded significant cost reductions without compromising KPC’s core functions.

Change management and inclusive communication

A structured, inclusive approach was essential for this multinational team. Ganes led stakeholder communications involving KPC leadership, local governments, and works councils, ensuring smooth, compliant transitions. By fostering transparency and collaboration, employees across regions were engaged in the changes, contributing to a smoother integration process.

Cross-cultural team integration and talent development

We worked closely with KPC to harmonise work cultures between Western European and Arab employees, focusing on communication, empathy, and shared values. This inclusive environment not only enhanced teamwork but also optimised talent management. Through a partnership with Hays, we revamped compensation and benefits, retaining experienced talent and introducing internal and external training opportunities to support career growth.
